The Camargue is located within the triangle between Arles, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and Salin de Giraud.
This region has two main parts: the north with its agricultural land, mostly rice fields, and the south with its marshland and salt water - a fragile ecosystem unique in Europe.
The Camargue is also an area for horse and bull breeding. There are more than 120 horse breeders and 150 bull breeders spread out across the Camargue, the Camargue Gardoise and la " Petite Camargue ".
The particularity of the fauna and flora of the area resulted in the creation of a national natural reserve in 1927 of 13 117 acres and, in 1970, a regional natural park of 30 000 acres.
